YOLT – You Only Live Twice

Bismillah1A must watch powerful reminder inshaa’Allaah, specially for our youth…

(Note: Kindly ignore the background music/nasheed which is not intended or meant to be promoted)

.

YOLT – “You only live twice” is referring to our Dunya (temporary life) & the Aakhirah (Life after death-more enduring/lasting).

Our Aakhirah depends on this life & we will be held accountable for every single deed (good & bad). Allaah says in the Qur’aan:

“Everyone shall taste the death. And only on the day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted into Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of Deception (a deceiving thing)”. [soorah Aal-e-3Imraan, v:185]

and He says:

“…Truly, the life of this world is nothing but a [quick passing] enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.” [soorah Ghaafir, v:39]

Once this life is over, then its all over, no one can return back to make amendments or do good deeds. Lets focus & see what we are preparing for our Aakhirah.

“O you who believe! Fear Allaah and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for tomorrow, and fear Allaah. Verily, Allaah is All-Aware of what you do”. [soorah Al-Hashr, v: 18]

May Allaah give us “Husnul-Khatimah” a good ending. Aameen

Any good that comes from this post is from Allaah alone and any mistakes & errors therein are from myself.

Rain… A sign of Allaah subhaanahu wa ta3aala:

“Do you not see that Allaah drives clouds? Then He brings them together, then He makes them into a mass, and you see the rain emerge from within it. And He sends down from the sky, mountains [of clouds] within which is hail, and He strikes with it whom He wills and averts it from whom He wills. The flash of its lightening almost takes away the eyesight”. [soorah an-Noor, v:43]

Rain… A blessing of Allaah:

هُوَ الَّذِي أَنزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً ۖ لَّكُم مِّنْهُ شَرَابٌ وَمِنْهُ شَجَرٌ فِيهِ تُسِيمُونَ

“He it is Who sends down water (rain) from the sky; from it you drink and from it (grows) the vegetation on which you send your cattle to pasture.

He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and from all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.” [Soorah an-Nahl, v:11-12l

True Story Of A Crippled Man

It is reported that Ibn Umm Maktoom radi Allaahu 3Anhu, who was a blind man said to prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam: “O Messenger of Allaah, I do not have a guide to lead me to the Masjid and he asked the Messenger of Allaah SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam to grant him a concession allowing him to pray in his house, and he allowed him that, but when he turned away he called him back and asked, “Can you hear the call to prayer?” He said, “Yes.”

He SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam said, “Then answer it.” (1)

Prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam said: “And if they only knew what was in the prayers of ‘Isha and Subh (Fajr), they would come to them even if they had to crawl.” (2)

3Abdullaah Ibn Mas3ood said, The Messenger of Allaah SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam taught us the ways of guidance, and told us that one of the way of guidance is to pray in the Masjid when the Aadhaan (call to prayer) is given.” (3)

In a remote tiny village in Saudi Arabia, an old crippled man crawling to the nearby masjid has been the most familiar scene. Some of those who have watched that man have died as he is now nearly 77.

Since he was a little boy, 3Abdullaah Al Asiri has never missed his daily prayers and insists on performing it at the Masjid despite his handicap.

Asiri was born handicapped in a family of 10, including his parents, three brothers and four sisters. His brothers, sisters, sisters in law and his many nephews and nieces have been looking after him through his life.

Asiri has crawled to and from the Masjid in his southern village of Al-Azeezah five times a day for nearly 65 years, defying the scorching desert summer heat and the pinching cold weather in winter.

His nephew 3Abdul Azeez said he had shot a film of his uncle to “underscore his perseverance, determination and strength.”

The Blessing of Guidance

Allaah has honored us by making us Muslims. There is no greater blessing than the guidance of Allaah.

A beautiful reminder about the Blessing of Islaam by Shaykh Saleh Al Maghamsi. Shaykh Al Maghamsi is the Imaam of Masjid Al-Quba in Madeenah, Saudi Arabia. He is one of the most well known scholars of tafseer.

If we are grateful to be a Muslim & a slave of Allaah then there is one thing we should do… & that is to make du3aa to Allaah for this bounty not to be taken away until we meet Allaah.

A worth watching 3 minutes reminder.

“Creator of the heavens and the earth! You are my Wali (Protector, Helper, Supporter, Guardian) in this world and in the Hereafter, cause me to die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous.”

When My Lord Asks Me…

Poem that made Imaam Ahmad cry

Ibn al-Jawzee mentions in his book that One of the students of Imaam Ahmad asked him: ‘Yaa Abaa 3AbdAllaah, what is your view about these odes (poem) which mention Paradise and Hell?’

He asked, ‘Like what?‘ He said, ‘They say:

When my Lord asks me..
Are you not ashamed to disobey Me?….

He asked him to repeat it & he did it again. Then Ahmad stood up and went into his house and closed the door behind him. The student said, ‘I could hear him from inside the house weeping like a child, it was as though he would die from crying:

This was what recited to him (1)

may Allaah subhaanahu wa ta3aala make my scale heavy with good deeds on the day of Judgement & enter me to Jannah without accounts. aameen

I have come to you (in repentance) – so have mercy on me, and make heavy my scales (with good deeds)

And lighten my account – You are the best of who will bring me to account.

Ibtilaa’: Tests Are a Medicine

Testing, Affliction & Calamities

Reminder:Fasting on 9th & 10th Muharram 1433 [Updated]

[Updated]

Shaykh 3Abdul Azeez Bin 3Abdullaah Aal Al-Sheikh, Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, has said the day of fasting for 3Aashouraa’/10 Muharram falls on Tuesday, 6th Decemeber.

Shaykh Aal Al-Sheikh called this a way out of arguments that the crescent was not sighted to mark the beginning of Muharram. He said Saturday therefore was the last day of Dhul Hijjah and Sunday the first of Muharram. Hence, the 9th and 10th of Muharram – days on which Muslims are recommended to fast – fall on Monday (Dec. 5) and Tuesday (Dec. 6) respectively. (*)

09 Muharram = Monday, 5th December 2011
10 Muharram (day of 3Aashooraa’) = Tuesday, 6th December 2011

The Prophet sallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam said: “Fasting the day of 3Aashooraa’, I hope that Allaah will accept it as expiation for the year that went before.”

It is Mustahabb (encouraged) to fast Taasoo3aa’ with 3Aashooraa’

… As If You Were not meant to Expire and be Forgotten?

Imaan Ibn Jawzee Rahimahullaah said:

“O you who persists on mistakes and wrong doings;

O you who has turned away from what the most Loving and Compassionate commands;

O you who obeys the falsifier of the path and the creator of calamities .

How long are you going to insist on your misbehavior?

How long are you going to keep yourself distant from your Lord?

How long will you seek from this world what you cannot have, and keep away from the other world by that which you cannot possess?

Neither are you sure of what Allaah prepared of sustenance for you, nor are you satisfied with that which He has commanded for you.

O my brother, by Allaah! Admonition does not seem to benefit you!

Afflictions do not seem to threaten you!

Time does not leave you and the call of death does not reach your ears!

As if, you poor man, would live forever and you weren’t meant to expire and be forgotten?”

ibn Jawzee Rahimahullaah’s book, al Bahr ad-dumo’ (the sea of tears),

Ibtilaa’: Tests Are a Medicine

Imaam ibn Al Qayyim said:

“The ibtilaa’ (testing) of the believer is like medicine for him. It extracts from him the illnesses. Had the illness remained it would destroy him or diminish his reward and level (in the hereafter). The tests and the trials extract these illnesses from him and prepare him for the perfect reward and the highest of degrees (in the life to come).”

Calamities, trials and tests are signs of love from Allaah for the believers. They are comparable to a cure; although it may be bitter, you accept it because it is from the one whom you love; and to Allaah belongs the best example.

He Who Has No One Has Allaah

Tafseer:(All) Praise Be To Allaah,Lord of the worlds

“An excerpt from “Tafseer of Soorah Al-Fatihah

[All] praise is [due] to Allaah , Lord of the worlds

[soorah Al-Fatihah, v:2]

الحمد:  is translated as “All praise”.

we can praise anyone:

  1. When we want something
  2. Because of having awe of them
  3. Out of fear for them

In case of human, it is not called حمد, we don’t use it for human.

حمد  means praising & thanking Allaah with Love & ta3dheem (exaltation)

حب  = Love

تعظيم = to make it great/ to glorify/ exaltation/ to respect, elevate

we are praising Allaah with Love & gratitude.

There is another word used for praise in Arabic:

مدح = حمد = praise

Hamd ( حمد) has something in it that Madh (مدح ) doesn’t have. We don’t do exaltation when we praise the human.

Hamd ( حمد) is special, only used for Allaah.

Why we are praising Allaah (using Hamd)?  due to His complete perfection.

When we praise a human, it becomes a Madh (مدح ) without Love or ta3dheem. You can thank a human without having love for them. But for Allaah it is perfect. We thank Allaah praising Him for His mercy, Love, for being As-Samee3, Al-Mujeeb, Al-3Adheem, At-tawwaab, ArRahmaan, Ar-Razzaaq, Ar-Raheem …………

لله

لله =  for Allaah

رب

Rabb (generally translated as Lord) but it has no equivalent in English

Rabb (one who nurtures & rears , upbring & give tarbiyah, takes care)

Allaah has created the human & prepared for them all the tools that they can used, He takes cares of them. In Arabic a person taking care of the house or master of the house is called:

رب البيت  (Rabb-ul-bayt) or

(Rabbat-ul-bayt)

The word رب (Rabb) comes from the word tarbiyyah (رب–> تربيّة) which means nurturing, training, educating, bringing up, nourishing. Allaah being the Rabb; He gives tarbiyyah to His slaves, takes care of His creation.

There are two types of Tarbiyyah:

  1. General Tarbiyah
  2. Special/Exclusive Tarbiyyah

1). General Tarbiyyah:  for all of His creation without exception. He created them, provided them, gives everything to them (ears, eyesight, rain, crops etc)  whether they worship Him or not, guide them to things that are beneficial for them in duniya, to reach higher in duniya, everything for a better life.

Just like a mother who takes care of food, drink, good school, medical care,  provides for child, do everything for him etc.

2). Special/Exclusive Tarbiyyah: This is Only for His Awliyaa’ (special slaves) Close believers whom He loves.

Whats that Special Tarbiyyah?

He up-brings them, raises them on Eemaan. How?

He gives them the ability to achieve Eemaan, raises & nurtures them on Eemaan  & He increases the Eemaan &  completes it for them – by guiding them to causes that will help increase their Eemaan (e.g., classes, righteous kids, knowledge etc). He gives special attention. He will bring everything on his way which will bring him closer to Allaah. Out of His Mercy & love, He will remove any obstacles that come between the slaves & Him. Allaah protects them & brings good in their path even if they didn’t specifically ask Allaah. He will give them tawfeeq (توفيق ) to do everything good.

توفيق = ability to achieve/ ability to do

We need intention & ability to do any good deeds & it’s from Allaah’s tawfeeq. He will protect them from all harms. He takes special care of their deen. (e.g., a mother who gives tarbiayh to her son, gives him  good company, removes any harm that comes his way etc)

Allaah’s tarbiyyah is much more on scale. The slave is under special tarbiyyah of Allaah.

Shaykh As-Sa3dee said something very beautiful about it. He said: “perhaps this is the secret behind all the du3aa’ of Anbiyaa’ (prophets) start with Rabbi/Rabbanaa, due to it carrying this meaning, for all that they were asking & requesting & desired fell under His specific tarbiyyah.

They asked with so much khushoo, complete ifitqaar, humility, whatever they asked: to be protected from fitnah, knowledge, victory..,  they said rabbi. At the end of du3aa they used different names of Allaah, but the beginning of their du3aa’ , they used rabbi.

We are heedless of this word “رب”. It has a beautiful feeling. When you make du3aa’ feel that special closeness to Allaah. Say it with your tongue & heart:

(Ya rabbi, give me beneficial knowledge, give me righteous companions etc)

The Rabb of 3Aalameen (general tarbiyyah) giving bounties to the worlds

Shaykh Uthaymeen said; العالمين is everything beside Allaah

العالمين = Plural of عالم (derived from word علامة = a sign)

Everything in Allaah’s creation is pointing to; is a sign to a great creator who is Allaah.
