The Likeness of Ramadaan and Prophet Yoosuf

Bismillah1

waiting_back

The month of Ramadaan to the other months is like Yoosuf to his brothers. So, just like Yoosuf was the most beloved son to Ya3qoob, Ramadaan is likewise the most beloved month to Allaah.

A nice point for the nation of Muhammad sallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam to ponder over is that if Yoosuf had the mercy and compassion to say (“There is no reproach for you today…” [soorah Yoosuf, v: 92]).

Ramadaan is likewise the month of mercy, blessing, goodness, salvation from the Fire, and Forgiveness from the King that exceeds that of all the other months and what can be gained from their days and nights.

Another nice point to think about is that Yoosuf’s brothers came to rely on him to fix their mistakes after all those they had made. So, he met them with kindness and helped them out, and he fed them while they were hungry and allowed them to return, and he told his servants: “Carry their belongings with you so that they don’t lose them.” So, one person filled the gaps of eleven others, and the month of Ramadaan is likewise one month that fills the gaps of our actions over the other eleven months. Imagine the gaps and shortcoming and deficiency we have in obeying Allaah!

We hope that in Ramadaan, we are able to make up for our shortcomings in the other months, to rectify our mistakes, and to cap it off with happiness and firmness on the Rope of the Forgiving King.

Another point is that Ya3qoob had eleven sons who were living with him and whose actions he would see at all times, and his eyesight did not return because of any of their clothing. Instead, it returned due to Yoosuf’s shirt. His eyesight came back strong, and he himself became strong after he was weak, and seeing after he was blind.

Likewise, if the sinner smells the scents of Ramadaan, sits with those who remind him of Allaah, recites the Qur’aan, befriends on the condition of Islaam and faith, and avoids backbiting and vain talk, he will (by Allaah’s Will) become forgiven after he was a sinner, he will become close after he was far, he will be able to see with his heart after it was blind, his presence will be met with happiness after it was met with repulsion, he will be met with mercy after he was met with disdain, he will be provided for without limit or effort on his part, he will be guided for his entire life, he will have his soul dragged out with ease and smoothness when he dies, he will be blessed with Forgiveness when he meets Allaah, and he will be granted the best levels in the Gardens of Paradise.

So, by Allaah, take advantage of this greatness during these few days and you will soon see abundant blessing, high levels of reward, and a very long period of rest and relaxation by the Will of Allaah.

By Allaah, this is the true relaxation…”

From Ibn al-Jawzi’s “Bustaan al-Wa3idheen wa Riyaad as-Sami3een” [page 213-214]

If You don’t find me In Jannah… then Ask About me…

Surely the people of Jannah when they enter Jannah and they don’t find those companions of theirs who were with them upon good in this world, then verily they will ask Allaah 3Azza wa Jall and they will say: “O Rabb we have brothers who used to pray salaah and fast with us, we do not see them!”

Allaah, jalla wa 3Alaa, will say “Go to the fire and take out any person who had even an atoms amount of Eemaan in their heart!”. (2)

And Hassan Basree (may Allaah have mercy on him) said  “Have lots of believing friends because they will be able to intercede for you on the day of qiyaamah”.

& when the disbeliever will see that, they will say {So now we have no intercessors, And not a devoted friend} (soorah Al-shu3araa)

The loyal friend is one; who walks you to Jannah.

Ibnul Jawzi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

“If you don’t find me with you in Jannah then ask about me, so you should say ‘O our Rabb! your slave so-and-so used to remind us about you’!! then he started weeping.

And I ask you… If you don’t find me in Jannah then ask about me, because I reminded you of Allaah even if it was only for one moment.

“Oh Allaah, we ask you for good friends those who will help us in your obedience.” Aameen

Are You Planting the Seeds?

Abu Bakr al-Balkhi said:

“The month of Rajab is the month for planting the seeds; the month of Sha3baan is the month of watering the seeds & the month of Ramadhan is the month of reaping the fruits.

Rajab Shaban Ramadaan

He also said: The likeness of the month of Rajab is that of the wind, the likeness of Sha3baan is that of the clouds and the likeness of Ramadaan is that of the rain; whoever does not plant and sow in Rajab, and does not irrigate in Sha3baan, how can he reap in Ramadaan?

Its Rajab…. are you Planting the seeds of good deeds & 3Ibaadah?

Trials & Calamities Are Medicine

1

Ibn al-Qayyim said:

Were it not that Allaah treats His slaves with the remedy of trials and calamities, they would transgress and overstep the mark.

When Allaah wills good for His slaves, He gives him the medicine of calamities and trials according to his situation, so as to cure him from all fatal illnesses and diseases, until He purifies and cleanses him, and then makes him qualified for the most honourable position in this world, which is that of being a true slave of Allaah (3uboodiyyah), and for the greatest reward in the Hereafter, which is that of seeing Him and being close to Him. If People are Impressed with You

‘Know that if people are impressed with you, in reality they are impressed with the beauty of Allaah’s covering of your sins

Sins That You Do In Private

The sins that you do in private kills the heart more than the sins that you do in public, because it means that you value the eyes of the people more than you value the sight of Allaah.

You are more worried about people catching you sinning than Allaah seeing you.”

Conditions You Must Meet to Benefit from the Qur’aan

“Allaah has sent down the best statement, a Book (this Qur’aan), its parts resembling each other in goodness and truth, oft-repeated. The skins of those who fear their Lord shiver from it (when they recite it or hear it). Then their skin and their heart soften to the remembrance of Allaah. That is the guidance of Allaah. He Guides therewith whom He pleases and whomever Allaah sends astray, for him there is no guide. [Soorah Az-Zumar, v: 23]

Al-Hasan Al-Basree said: “O son of Aadam, how is your heart ever going to be softened by the recitation of Qur’aan when all you read for is to reach the end of the soorah

If you want to benefit from the Qur’aan;

1.You must concentrate and devote your heart solely when reciting and listening to it.

2.You must pay attention, and try to comprehend the fact that what you are reading is the word of Allaah.

3.  As you read you must know that Allaah is addressing you in and through His Qur’aan. Indeed it is the words of Allaah to you through the tongue of His Messenger sallAllaahu 3alayhi wa sallam.

Allaah says:

which means: “Verily, therein is a reminder for him who has a heart and gives ear while he is heedful.” [soorah Qaaf, v:37]

Obtaining the perfect effect depends upon the stimulus, the place of the receiver , the condition for the effect to occur, and the absence of any obstacle that may obstruct the effect. The above verse explains all that in the most precise and clear words.

Allaah says, which means: “Verily, therein is a reminder” it is a sign for what has passed from the beginning of the chapter until this verse.

His saying, “for him who has a heart” refers to the place of the receiver and it means the living heart, which comprehends what Allaah says.

For example when Allaah says:

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْآنٌ مُّبِينٌ ﴿٦٩﴾ لِّيُنذِرَ مَن كَانَ حَيًّا

which means: “This is only a Reminder and a Plain Qur’aan . That he or it (Muhammed salallaahu alayhi wasalam or the Qur’aan) may give warning to him who is living ( a healthy minded believer.)”[soorah Yaa-seen, v:69-70]

“who is living” means the one who has a living heart.

And when Allaah says, which means,“and gives ear” means the person listens to what is being said to him.

And this is the condition to be truly affected by the words.

And His saying “while he is heedful” means to be aware; that his heart is conscious and not distracted by any worldly matter.

Ibn Qutaibah said, “He is listening to the Book of Allaah while his heart is present and understands; not being inattentive or unaware. If the heart is inattentive; lacking understanding concerning what is being said, as well as failing to see or meditate on it, then there is an obstruction. If however, the Qur’aan produced an effect on the receiver, which is the living heart and the condition of listening was fulfilled, and the heart is not engaged with something other than the meaning of the speech, the desired effect will occur, which is obtaining benefit from the Qur’aan and remembrance.”

O son of Adam, you are nothing but a few breaths.

Once one breath goes out, part of you goes with it.
