The below hadeeth has been circulating on the net, social sites & forums for many years and now it has become wide-spread on facebook, twitter and WhatsApp. Please be aware of the following famous hadeeth, it is FABRICATED.
“Whoever is the first to give another person the news about the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the fire of hell is Haraam for them”.
This fabricated hadeeth is wide-spread in English, Arabic & other languages with different versions (same wordings but for different months).
Whoever is the first to give another person the news about the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the fire of hell is Haraam for them”
“Today is 1st Rajab. The Holy Prophet (SAW) said “Whoever 1st to give another person the news of this month, hell fire is haram for him/her.”
Another version: “Whoever offers congratulations to people for this blessed month, the Fire will be forbidden for him”
And about Ramadaan: “GOOD NEWS!!! In sha Allah!! Ramadhan will likely start on June 6 (depending on moon sighting),…. which is only 140 days from today. The Holy Prophet Mohammad, SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam, says if one informs another about Ramadhan first, hellfire will become haraam for that individual. I have done my duty by forwarding it to you.”
We do not know of any source for the hadeeth mentioned, and it is clearly fabricated. Hence it is not permissible to attribute it to the Prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam, because that comes under the heading of telling lies against him, and telling lies against him is haraam and is a major sin. (1)
The Fatwa section of Islamweb.net was asked about this hadeeth and they replied:
We not find this Hadeeth in the resources that we have at hand. (2)
And another question, they replied:
There is no origin (basis) in the books of sunnah we know. Shaykh 3Alwee As-Saqaaf mentions this hadeeth under section “widely-spread on internet” that this hadeeth is a LIE on the prophet.” (3)
Telling lies about the Prophet:
Telling lies about the Prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam is a great evil and a serious sin, because the Prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam said:
“Telling lies about me is not like telling lies about anyone else. Whoever tells lies about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell.” (4)
And the Prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam said:
“Do not tell lies about me, for whoever tells lies about me will enter Hell.” (5)
Ruling on one who fabricates things about the Prophet:
He SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam said:
“Whoever narrates a hadeeth from me that he thinks is false is one of the liars.” (6)
An-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
This is a stern warning against lying, which it indicates that whoever thinks it most likely that what he is narrating is false but still narrates it is a liar. How can he not be a liar, when he is narrating something that did not happen? (7)
A number of scholars are of the view that the one who deliberately tells lies about the Prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam is a kaafir.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) discussed this matter at length and mentioned the ruling on one who tells lies about the Prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam verbally, the ruling on one who tells lies about him in a report and the ruling on one who narrates a hadeeth knowing it to be false. He was of the view that the one who tells lies about him verbally is a kaafir. (8)
Warning for those who circulate fabricated Ahadeeth:
Unfortunately, due to lack of knowledge, e-mails containing false information and fabricated ahadeeth are widely circulated. The creators of such e-mails as well as those who forward them to others should take heed of the severe warning of Rasool-Allaah SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam. He said:
Whoever tells lies about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell.
It is therefore, necessary that one should be cautious, when one receives e-mails of such a nature wherein there is no authentic reference mentioned. Such e-mails or pieces of information should be referred to reliable and learned scholars for verification.
& Allaah knows best.
