The Hour will fall on a Friday

bism (2)

The Hour will Fall on a Friday (Jumu3ah):

Abu Hurayrah reported the Messenger of Allaah SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa Sallam as saying:

The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it Adam was created. on it he was made to enter Paradise, on it he was expelled from it. And the last hour will take place on no day other than Friday. (1)
hour on friday

Every Creature Fear the Day of Friday:

It was narrated that Abu Lubaabah ibn 3Abd al-Mundhir said: The Prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa Sallam said:

Friday is the master of days, and the greatest of them before Allaah. It is greater before Allaah than the day of al-Adha and the day of al-Fitr.

It has five characteristics: on this day Allaah created Adam, on it He sent Adam down to the earth, on it Allaah caused Adam to die, on it there is a time when a person does not ask Allaah for anything but He gives it to him, so long as he does not ask for anything haraam, and on it the Hour will begin.

There is no angel who is close to Allaah, no heaven, no earth, no wind, no mountain and no sea that does not fear Friday.” (2)

Al-Sanadi said:

“They fear Friday” means they fear the onset of the Hour. This indicates that all created beings are aware of the days and they know that the Day of Resurrection will come on a Friday.

Every Living Being Fear the Day of Friday Except Human & Jinn:

In a lengthy Hadeeth, narrated from Abu Salamah ibn 3Abd al-Rahmaan that Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allaah SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa Sallam said:

The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On it Adam was created, on it he was sent down (to earth), on it his repentance was accepted, on it he died and on it the Hour will begin.

There is no living being but it is in a state of apprehension on Friday from dawn until sunrise fearing the onset of the Hour, except jinn and mankind……” (3)

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “I went out to At-Tur and met Ka3b. He and I spent a day together, when I narrated things to him from the Messenger of Allah SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa Sallam and he narrated things to me from the Tawrah. I said to him: The Messenger of Allah SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa Sallam said:
The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On this day, Adam was created, on this day he was sent down, on it repentance was accepted, on this day he died, and on this day the Hour will begin. There is no living creature on Earth that does not listen out from Friday morning until the sun rises, fearing the onset of the Hour, except the son of Adam…” (4)

And Yet Another Ramadaan Slipped Away

Alaas!.. it is here… Its the time for parting.

The countdown that marked the arrival of Ramadaan, the excitement of the coming month of boundless mercy, now turns to wistfulness and grief as the last fleeting days of Ramadaan passed away.

The question is… did we make an effort to gather the uncountable blessings from Allaah that this month brings in?

The question is.. did we do enough?

Allaah blessed us with the month of Ramadaan, and bestowed His favor upon us with the fasting of its day and the praying of its night.

I ask Allaah that He accepts from us our fasting, our standing in prayer, our recitation of the Qur’aan and that He makes us from the people who are saved from Hell Fire.

As we bid farewell to this blessed month..this beloved, noble guest, it is a good time to remind ourselves…and to take a moment to reflect upon our actions during Ramadaan, our motives and perhaps even chart a course for the continuity of our good deeds. We should ask ourselves a few questions for which we need to find some honest answers.

An answer, it is said, is only as good as the question that precedes it. For it is only when we frame a query searching enough, searing enough, that we can hope to find a reply that is comprehensive and just. It is these answers that may have a chance to awaken us from our absent-mindedness, our heedlessness and help us remain steadfast and virtuous.

These questions are in their utmost simplicity:

Who did you fast for??
Why did you fast??
What is to be done after Ramadaan?

Yet, the answers are only the bare truth. Why, nothing else could be clearer! I fasted for Allaah alone, to worship Him, seeking the rewards from Him alone.

Yes, these answers are correct and clear. But, what about those of us who fasted the month of Ramadaan as a tradition and not as an act of worship?

Do we not know of someone who got used to fasting this month because they inherited it from their parents and their societies and they do not want to go against their traditions? Do we see someone fasting because everyone around them, their family, peers and colleagues are fasting, and they want to belong?

Perhaps a part of us also does the same?

Are we among those people who abstain from all sorts of permissible food and drink during the long hours of the day, only to fall upon the food and drink at iftaar, unmindful of what is unlawful during the nights and days of the rest of the year? This is because of the feeble self-control over overwhelming desires of the nafs (soul), that is not bothered to be reined-in, except for mighty efforts during the days of Ramadaan.

Have we not observed someone we know, who fasts meticulously as if fasting is a habit that has been inherited, and yet does not pray? Have not we, at some time or the other, fasted as if a bag was tied to a camel’s mouth to prevent it from eating until dusk, because we have not prayed nor observed the limits set by Allaah, achieving nothing out of it except hunger or thirst?

Certainly, the obligation of fasting is one of the pillars of Islaam, but the greatest pillar of Islaam is the Salaah. The five daily prayers are greater than fasting. Some people regularly fast the month of Ramadaan, but do not regularly pray. Some do not pray at all.

The One who prescribed fasting is the same One who prescribed Salaah. The One who said, “O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you..”(1) is the same One who said, “..Perform salaah, Verily, the prayer is enjoined on the believers at fixed time.”(2)

Does Allaah deserve to be worshiped during the month of Ramadaan by fasting, then He does not deserve to be worshiped in the five daily prayers?

Similarly, we see people staying away from lying, backbiting and cheating during Ramadaan, only to go right back to their evil ways, the very evening the moon is sighted for Shawwaal!

Will we do the same??

Will we go right back to the way were before Ramadaan??

Or have we changed for the better??

Will we abandon the Qur’aan, the Word of ar-Rahmaan, that we recited so whole heartedly during Ramadaan and replace it with music, the words of as-Shaytaan? ??

Will we forget all that we learnt from this blessed month in the blink of an eye?

Will we run straight back into the haraam that we worked so hard to stay away from during Ramadaan??

We all prayed Tahajjud/Fajr Salaah but sadly now we will pray only when we get time.

We scarificed our daily evening routine for 1 hour of 3Ishaa’ and Taraweeh Salaah.. and now if we are to ask to devote 1 hour for salaah, we would think twice.

Does Allah deserve to be worshiped only in the month of Ramadaan, but not in the rest of the year?

Its far easy to keep fasting in Ramadaan (as everyone is fasting) but now because we have got the habit, lets first start continue fasting for next 6 days of Shawwaal followed by sunnah fasting of Mondays and Thrusday and 13th, 14th, 15th of every month.

Has this month of fasting become more of a tradition for us than anything else…going from one Khatam to another, trying to catch the blessing of Khatmul-Qur’aan, yet when it comes to our practical every day lives, this very Qur’aan lies dusty upon our shelves, having no impact on our lives, having no change in our attitude and with no effect on our submission to Allaah.

Did we really learn nothing from this blessed month?

Or did we???

Rather, this month should be a starting point for further piety because from the signs of Allaah’s acceptance of our fasting is that He helps us to become steadfast in the Deen after Ramadaan.

Today, even with the imminent departing of Ramadaan, let us be able to say: “Verily, my Salaah, my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds. He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims.” (3)

It is a farewell, but also a renewal, a reaffirmation, a positive change, and with the Will of Allaah, also our labor’s end and its just recompense.

Recite the Qur’aan Much Before it is Taken Away

Bismillaah - Copy 3AbdAllaah ibn Mas3ood said:

“Recite the Qur’aan much before it is taken away”

They said, “These Mus-hafs will be taken away! What about that which is (memorized) in Men’s hearts?”

He said: “Something will come and take it one night, and in the morning they will wake up without it. They will forget the phrase laa ilaaha ill-Allaah’ and they will start to recite the sayings and poetry of the Jaahiliyyah. That is when the Word will be fulfilled against them.” (1)

In another narration, 3AbdAllaah ibn Mas3ood said:

“Something will come and take the Qur’aan one night and not one aayah will be left, either in the Mus-haf or in the heart of any person, but it will be taken away.” (2)

3Amr ibn Deenar (d. 126 A.H.)said:

“I have met the Companions of the Prophet sallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam and those that came after them for seventy years. All of them said: “Allaah is the Creator and everything besides Him is created, and the Qur’aan is the kalaam of Allaah, from Him it came, and to Him it will return.”” (3)

quran sky

Tabaraani narrated that Ibn Mas3ood radi-Allaahu 3Anhhu said: “This Qur’aan will most certainly be taken away from amongst you.”

He was asked: “O Abu 3Abd al-Rahmaan, how will it be taken away when it is so deeply rooted in our hearts and is written in our mus-hafs?”

He said: “Something will come to it at night, then there will be nothing left of it in people’s hearts or in the mus-haf, and the next morning the people will be like animals.”

Then he recited the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):

“And if We willed, We could surely, take away that which We have revealed to you (i.e. this Qur’aan). Then you would find no protector for you against Us in that respect” [soorah Al-Israa’ , v:86] (4)

Imaam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

“At the end of time, something will come to it at night in the Mus-hafs and in people’s hearts,  then there will not be left one word of it in people’s hearts or one letter of it in the Mus-haf.” (5)

cropped-ShareIslam_Quran2

Allaah revealed the Qur’aan as a guidance to mankind and He guaranteed to protect it. It is the eternal miracle of the Prophet sallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa sallam and it will remain, and people of earlier and later generations will learn from it and be guided by it,

But at the end of time, just before the Hour comes, Allaah will take the souls of the believers, and there will be no one left on earth except the most evil of people. There will be no prayer, no fasting, no Hajj and no charity (zakaah). Then there will be no point in the Ka3bah being there or in the Qur’aan remaining among mankind, so Allaah will decree that the Ka3bah be destroyed at the hands of a kaafir from Ethiopia. (6)

And Allaah will take the Qur’aan away from the earth, and not one aayah of it will be left in the mus-hafs or in people’s hearts.

Allaah will not permit His Book to remain on earth if it is not benefiting anyone and no one is acting in accordance with it. So this thing will come to pass.

Advice:

This frightening event makes the sincere Muslim hasten to pay attention to the Book of Allaah, to learn it, memorize it, recite it and ponder its meanings, before the Book is taken away. (Build A Daily Relationship with Qur’aan)

recite-the-quran

This is one of the tribulations that will happen at the end of time, concerning which our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

Hasten to do good deeds before tribulations come like patches of dark night, when a man will wake up as a believer and by evening he will be a kaafir, or in the evening he will be a believer and by morning he will be a kaafir, selling his religion for some worldly gains.” (7)

“And for you is an Appointed Time”

[3Umar ibn 3Abd al-3Azeez]

3Umar ibn 3Abd al-3Azeez (rahimahu-Allaah) said in his last khutbah:

[يا أيها الناس]

O people,

Indeed you have not been created for mere play
Nor will you be left in vain

And for you is an appointed time
Wherein Allaah will descend to judge between his servants

Truly the failure is he who has left the Mercy of Allaah
which has encompassed all things

And who has been forbidden from Paradise,
its width as wide as the heavens and the earth

Don’t you see that you are indeed in a destroyed plunder

And those after you shall inherit it

Like that it will be, until it is returned to the Best of Inheritors (Allaah)

And everyday you are going back and forth escorting (someone) to Allaah

His term has been settled
And his life is over

Will you then bid him farewell and call him from the rough and unleveled cracks of the earth?

He has left all provisions
And left his beloved ones
He has settled to live among dust
And is due to face the reckoning

He is free from what he has left behind
And in dire need of what he has put forth

So fear Allaah O servants of Allaah
Before the descent of death and the coming of his time

Indeed, I say this to you
But none knows as much as I do of the sins (I have) earned

But I seek the forgiveness of Allaah and repent to Him

He then lifted the ends of his cloak and weeped.
Then he got down and did not return to the minbar until he passed away.

May the Mercy of Allaah be upon him. Aameen

[soorah TaaHaa, v:84]

She told them, “This aayah is what moves me. When I hear the Adhaan and I’m in occupied and the middle of something, I remind myself of this aayah and so I get up to pray.”

“When my alarm goes off at 2:00 am (Tahajjud) and I want to go back to sleep I remember: “and I hastened to You, O my Lord, that You might be pleased” and so I get up.

Her husband had the following arrangement with her: on his way home from work he would call her so she will get the food hot & ready; so he can come home and eat &  sleep.

Stuffed-Grape-Leaves
One day he asked her to make Mahshi (stuffed grape leaves with rice – very time consuming. You wrap many of them and put the pot of them on the stove to cook).

She had 3 more to wrap then she had to put them on the stove to cook.

But the Adhaan came in…

So she left the 3 remaining grape-leaves (which would have taken her 5 minutes) and went to pray.

Her husband kept calling & calling but there was no answer. He came home and found her in Sujood and food not ready. He saw there were only 3 grape-leaves left. So he was upset & said:

“You could have just finished them & put the pot to cook then pray!”

No response.

He went to her to discover she had died in her Sujood!

SubhaanAllaah, had she waited like any of us to “finish whats in her hand”, she would have died in the kitchen!

But a person dies upon what they lived on and by, & they are resurrected on what they died on. (*)

Prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa Sallam said : “‘Every person will be resurrected in the manner that he died.’” (1)

Resolution: (*)

Let’s make a resolution:

*For sisters, leave everything, get up & pray as soon as the adhaan calls in, [maximum after 20 minutes (iqaamah time)]

3Abdullaah narrated: “I asked the Prophet SallAllaahu 3Alayhi wa Sallam: “Which deed is the dearest to Allaah?”

He replied, “To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times.” (2)

*For brothers, as soon as you hear the Adhaan, do wudoo’ & go to the Masjid.

keep reminding yourself:

“and I hastened to You, O my Lord, that You might be pleased.”

* True story shared by a sister, who also suggested the resolution.May Allaah accept it from her and may it be a source of sadaqah-e-Jaariyah for her. Aameen
